Preparation for the National Day of Prayer 2015
National Day of Prayer
It is very Biblical to pray scripture. We know that
God’s Word is truth, so to wrap our prayer around scripture is praying truth.
Also, scripture reveals God’s heart, so when we pray His Word, we are in
essence, asking for His will. When we repent for our nation, we may confess things
corporately that we wouldn’t necessarily need to repent of individually. For
instance, as a nation, we have showed contempt for God’s name and Word, whereas,
personally, we may show great honor for them. God understands the big picture. In
scripture we see men like Daniel confessing the sins of his nation, and we can
see God moving on national events as a result of his prayer. See Daniel, chapter 9.Fasting gets God’s attention and if you feel this is
something that you want to do, do it.
However, it is better not to vow to fast and break it, than it is not to
vow at all. The purpose of fasting is to give up the time spent preparing and
eating food to be in prayer. Isaiah chapter 58 holds some keys to the kind of
fast which gets God’s attention. He tells us that when we humble ourselves, He
notices. When we treat others rightly, He notices. When we have a heart for the
helpless, He notices.Isaiah 58:6-7“Is this not the fast which I choose,
to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let
the oppressed go free and break every yoke?
“Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless
poor into the house; when you see the naked, to cover him; and not to hide
yourself from your own flesh?Repent of National

Isaiah 64:4 For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.
Lord, You have said it in Your unchangeable Word, that you act on behalf of those who wait for You. We are confident that You are going to act on the things we have prayed about tonight.
Isaiah 30:19-23 O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you. Although the Lord has given you bread of privation and water of oppression, He, your Teacher will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes will behold your Teacher. Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. And you will defile your graven images overlaid with silver, and your molten images plated with gold. You will scatter them as an impure thing, and say to them, “Be gone!” Then He will give you rain for the seed which you will sow in the ground, and bread from the yield of the ground, and it will be rich and plenteous; on that day your livestock will graze in a roomy pasture.
Lord, we long for the day when we as a nation will worship You only. We long to have you bless the fruit of our hands and multiply our plantings of salvation in the world so that all will know You and the earth will bloom with Your glory.
Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?”
Jeremiah 32:17-18 ‘Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You, 18 who shows lovingkindness to thousands, but repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them, O great and mighty God. The Lord of hosts is His name;
Matthew 17:19-21 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
It’s true Lord, there is nothing too difficult for You. You can bring revival to America and turn her around. We bring more than a mustard seed of faith tonight that You will intervene and bring revival so that America will once again stand for Your great name.

Isaiah 5:20-21 Woe to those who call evil good, and good
evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute
bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe
to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!
Lord we are sorry we
have raised human thought higher than Your truth. We repent and ask You to show
us Your eternal wisdom.
Jeremiah 10:12-13 It is
He who made the earth by His power, who established the world by His wisdom;
and by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens. When He utters His
voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and He causes the clouds to
ascend from the end of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain, and brings
out the wind from His storehouses.
Lord teach us Your
wisdom. The wisdom that created the
universe and calls out lightning and wind. Your wisdom is great enough to get
our country out of the mess we’ve made of it. Please Lord, show us the way for
Your thoughts and ways are very high; much higher than our own.
Isaiah 1:18-21
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow;
though they are red like
crimson, they
will be like wool. “If you consent and obey, you will eat the best of the land; “But if you refuse and rebel,
you will be devoured by the sword.”
Truly, the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Lord, please forgive our sins, which are many, and
help us to obey You so that we can once again eat the best of the land.
Isaiah 1:3-4 “An ox knows its owner, and a donkey
its master’s manger, But Israel does not know, my people do not
understand.” Alas, sinful nation, people
weighed down with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who act corruptly!
They have abandoned the Lord, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they
have turned away from Him.
Lord, we are sorry that we haven’t recognized your
authority over us. We are sorry we have
abandoned You as a nation. Please forgive our sin.
Isaiah 3:8b For Jerusalem has stumbled and Judah
has fallen, because their speech and their actions are against the Lord, to
rebel against His glorious presence.
Lord we are sorry that our speech as a nation has
been against You. We have not honored Your name, Your house or Your Word. Please Lord, forgive us.
Isaiah 17:10a For you have forgotten the God of your salvation and have
not remembered the rock of your refuge.
Lord, we are sorry that we have ignored You as a nation. You were so
gracious to bless us and strengthen us as a nation and we repaid You by turning
away. Please forgive us.
Isaiah 2:8b Their land has also been filled with idols; they worship the
work of their hands, that which their fingers have made.
Isaiah 5:12b But they do not pay attention to the deeds of the Lord, nor
do they consider the work of His hands.
Isaiah 22:11b But you did not depend on Him who made it, nor did you
take into consideration Him who planned it long ago.
Isaiah 17:7 In that day man will have regard for his Maker and his eyes
will look to the Holy One of Israel.
Lord we are sorry that we have given things WE have made the place of honor
that belongs to you alone. We sorry that we have ignored the blessing of what
You have made and the blessing of Your presence.
Jeremiah 2:13 “For My people have committed two evils: they have
forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns,
broken cisterns That can hold no water.
Lord, we are sorry that we have turned away from You and have tried to
fill the void in our lives with other things that cannot fulfill us.
Jeremiah 8:9 “The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed
and caught; behold,
they have rejected the word of the Lord, and what kind of wisdom do they have?
Lord, we are sorry we have not read, obeyed and
honored Your Word as a nation. We have
made fun of Your precious Word. We have scoffed at Your laws and we have
withheld the honor due Your Word. Please forgive us for this great sin.
Malachi 1:6 “‘A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then
if I am a father, where is My
honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?’
says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests who despise My name. But you
say, ‘How have we despised Your name?’
Malachi 1:14 “But cursed be the swindler who has
a male in his flock and vows it, but sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord,
for I am a great King,” says the
Lord of hosts, “and My name is feared
among the nations.”
Lord, we are sorry that we have forgotten what a
great King you are and that we have not feared and honored Your name. We have not given you the honor and respect
You deserve. We have heard Your name dragged through the gutter and we ourselves
have been guilty of not treating You like a GREAT KING. Please forgive us.
Psalm 106:16 For He has shattered gates of bronze
and cut bars of iron asunder.
Lord, the enemy has set up strongholds in the
minds of your people and in the minds of those who don’t know You yet. We will
need Your great might to tear down these fortresses of thought. Please Lord,
only a powerful God like you are can do this. Abortion is wrong. Homosexual behavior is wrong. Prideful living
is wrong. The idol worship of self, food, power and money are wrong. Help us
give up this idol worship and give you the worship due You.
Isaiah 26:9 At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently; for when the earth
experiences Your judgments The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
Lord, sometimes trouble helps get our
attention. We don’t ask for trouble, but
we do know that if trouble will turn our nation back to You, then it will be
useful in your loving and merciful hands.
Psalm 103:13-14 Just as
a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those
who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but
dust.
We are so grateful,
Lord, that You love us and understand our failings. Thank you that because You lived in a human
body, You know all about us and can care for us perfectly.
Jonah 3:9 Who knows,
God may turn and relent and withdraw His burning anger so that we will not
perish.
Joel 2:14 Who knows whether He will not turn
and relent and leave a blessing behind Him, even a grain
offering and a drink offering for the Lord your God?
Oh Lord, even now you
can relent from judgement and show mercy. We know we deserve judgement, but Lord, we ask
You to please consider giving us mercy instead of judgement. Turn and leave us
a blessing that we might bring to You offerings due Your great name.
Isaiah 1:26
“Then I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as
at the beginning; after that you will be called the city of righteousness, a
faithful city.”
What a testimony it would be for you to restore
America by Your own wisdom and power so that once again she would stand for justice
and righteousness among the nations of the world. Only a great God could take a
nation of rebellious sinners and return us to a people after Your own heart.
Isaiah 58:9-11 “Then you will call, and the Lord
will answer; you will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the yoke
from your midst, the pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness, and if you
give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your
light will rise in darkness and your gloom will become like midday. “And the Lord
will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in scorched places, and
give strength to your bones; and you will be like a watered garden, and like a
spring of water whose waters do not fail.
Lord, please help us to cry out to You. You can help us turn and do the things that
please Your heart. Then, You have said
in Your unchangeable Word that You will turn our gloom to daylight and take our
deserts and water them. We are counting on You, to do as You have promised to
do.
Isaiah 42:18-23 Hear, you deaf! and look, you
blind, that you may see. Who is blind but My servant, or so deaf as My
messenger whom I send? Who is so blind as he that is at peace with Me, or so
blind as the servant of the Lord? You have seen many things, but you do not
observe them; your ears are open, but none hears. The Lord was pleased for His
righteousness’ sake to make the law great and glorious. But this is a people
plundered and despoiled; all of them are trapped in caves, or are hidden away
in prisons; they have become a prey with none to deliver them, and a spoil,
with none to say, “Give them back!”
Psalm 2:8 ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the
nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession.
Lord, we hear you saying in these verses that if
your servants will say, “Give them back” that you will hear and will help
plundered people who are trapped to be set free. So we do that tonight,
Lord. We ask You to fight the enemy for
You are strong enough to unlock the prison gates of minds and hearts. You have prompted us to ask You to allow the
nations of the earth to know and honor You as Lord. Please Lord, keep Your promise that if we
ask, You will give us this gift.
Psalm 5:3 In the morning, O Lord, You will hear
my voice; in the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch.
Psalm 4:3 But know that the Lord has set apart the godly man
for Himself; the Lord hears when I call to Him.
Lord, in Your own words You have told us that
You will hear our voices tonight and we will take You at Your word and expect
to see the answers to our prayers.
