After teaching at a particular school for eight years, the Lord through a series of events spoke and told me to resign my position.  This is not an ordinary thing to do in Sept. of a new school year.  However, by faith, I obeyed. Looking back in my prayer journal is so astonishing it’s hard to believe. On Oct. 1st I had a meeting with my principal to discuss the situation. On Oct. 3rd he accepted my resignation.  Sandwiched in between those two occurrences on Oct. 2nd was a Skype call with a company in the Netherlands for whom I now write interactive white board lessons. Go figure! God was preparing me for a time of working at home and writing my seventh book, as well. It is amazing to me that He laid out the steps so carefully. I want to make sure that you don’t get the wrong impression, however.  Working part time for the last two months at home has not been easy.  Because I am hired by the job, my paycheck does not come on a regular basis.  I have no guarantee of future work and my first check required me to wait over two months. During that time, however, the Lord has done something unique in my life. He has encouraged my faith muscle, He has given me a contentment that has cut down on my shopping impulses, and He has shown me countless ministry opportunities that have been opened to me as a result of working from home. This, plus the fact that He has drawn me close to His presence has made these past two months a wonderful faith adventure. But it hasn't been “easy.”

Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me. O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever.

As our family waited on my first paycheck this verse became especially meaningful to me. The company kept promising that my pay would arrive in a few days…in a couple of weeks and so on. We had been waiting almost two months and my hubby was beginning to think the job might be a hoax. Some particular moments of faith came first, at our church’s Thanksgiving service where we praised the Lord openly, and then on Thanksgiving Day, when our family gave thanks with grateful hearts privately.  My pay arrived the following day. I was grateful for the resource, but even more, that I had heard God correctly and was following the path He had for us.

Is God pressing you to trust Him more?  Rejoice! Together we can move up from the 3 yr. old faith class to the 4 yr. old class. Smile. The adventure will be thrilling.
